Going into the 82-83 season the Pirates veteran HOF Coach John Warchol said, “this team has the potential to go all the way if they want it.” This quote carried throughout the season as Seton Hall went 24-3-1 and they finished #2 in the final Star Ledger ranking in NJ. They won the Northern NJ Invitational tournament in December defeating Morristown and Chatham Township. Then defeating Montclair twice (5-2 & 3-1) and CBA (3-0) they won the prestigious Gordon Cup Tournament and won the NJIHL “A” Division Title. In the State Tournament they beat St. Peter’s (8-2), Delbarton (2-0) in a shoot out, Montclair (4-2) before losing to CBA in the final (3-0). The Pirates had a 19 game winning streak during this outstanding season.
