The 1999-2000 Hudson Catholic Hawks started with a bit of a chip on their shoulders after making some waves in the High School Hockey power structure the previous year.
Led by Captain, Ryan Trott and Player of the Year, Goaltender Joe Aliseo, the Hawks immediately started the ’99-2000 season off strong by defeating Seton Hall in the opener, tying Brick (4-4) and beating Delbarton (3-1) to propel them to the #1 ranking by the Star-Ledger.
Garnering the 1st seed in the Parochial, the Hawks knocked off Pingry (7-0) and Bergen Catholic (4-2) to earn a trip to the Continental Arena and a showdown with Seton Hall.
A 35 save effort by Aliseo against SHP gave the Hawks a 2-1 win and the Parochial Title and date for the Overall Championship with Bayonne. First period goals by Mike Lagola and Mike Caputo and 2nd period goals by Pat Percella and Peter Haglund were all the Hawks needed to cruise to a 4-2 victory over Bayonne. For the year, The Hawks coached by Head Coach Cory Robinson and Assistants Frank McGady and Dave Metcalf, finished with a 22-4-2 record and as the #1 Team in the State of New Jersey
