The fourth-leading scorer in Saint Joseph Metuchen history, Carter amassed 151 career points (75 goals and 76 assists) from 1988 through 1991. In 1991, during his senior season, Carter led the Falcons to their first Hanchen Cup Championship. In 1991, Carter was an All-State selection and MVP of the American A
Conference.
After graduating from Saint Joseph HS, Carter played for Trinity College School in Port Hope, Ontario, and then at Norwich University. From 2003-07, Carter served as an assistant coach at his alma mater, eventually becoming the head coach in 2007. Under Carter, the Falcons have compiled a 228-118-35 record, claimed nine Greater Middlesex Conference Tournament championships, and won three Egan Conference titles. Carter is a four-time GMC Coach of the Year. In 2018, Carter was nationally recognized by USA Hockey as the recipient of the Bob O’Connor Award for Extraordinary Accomplishments and Contributions to coaching in the sport of ice hockey.
In June 2022, Carter was appointed by USA Hockey as the Atlantic District Coach-in-Chief. Carter resides with his family in Winfield Park, NJ.
